Installation problems
The user 'Administrator' should install LUSAS Modeller. It may be necessary after installation to
manually specify the folders used by LUSAS Modeller and LUSAS Solver for temporary file
storage. By default, following the Windows convention, these will be of the form "C:\...\Administrator\...\temp". However unfortunately this folder will not be available to other users, and so should be
modified using the
Configuration Utility.
If you encounter a "Windows
Installer" message:
Windows Installer could
not find some files that are required for LUSAS to run correctly.
Please run ActiveX Control Pad Installer "C:\LUSAS150\Third
Party\Scripting\ActiveX\setuppad.exe" when the current
installation is complete
Or if you encounter a message that
you need to install third party scripts (ActiveX), or an error
when running LUSAS (for example when going to Attributes>Material>Material
Library):
Unable
to create one or more controls
After clicking OK you may then get
a second message similar to:
'Microsoft Vbscript
runtime error: object required: 'cbo material' at Line ##.'
'Microsoft Vbscript runtime error: object required: 'cbo template'
at Line ##.'
Active X Control Pad is not
installed automatically during the installation of LUSAS. Usually
it does not need to be installed because for many machines it will
have already been installed where MSOffice or certain versions of
Internet Explorer have previously been installed.
It sounds as the ActiveX has not
been previously installed on your PC. To resolve this, you can
install it by double-clicking on C:\LUSAS150\Third
Party\Scripting\ActiveX\setuppad.exe. For Windows 7, you will
need to right-click on this file and run in compatibility mode,
otherwise an error regarding Windows Cabinet Self-Extractor may
encountered if the operating system. You may then be prompted to
"Retry with recommended settings" or "Ignore".
You can still proceed choosing to retry with recommended settings
and once installed successfully the ActiveX errors should be
cleared.
You must have a "computer administrator" user account to activate and register Windows as well as to create user accounts, change your computer's settings and install new software. To check your account type,
go to:
Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.
