Using option 17 to reduce file space used
Option 17 suppresses the storage of the global stiffness records
for fast frontal and iterative solvers prior to the global stiffness assembly:
this saves on
disk space and also disk input/output if sufficient physical memory is
available. In essence this eliminates the use of temporary
("scratch") files. This may be useful in solving small
problems with limited disk space available but plenty of physical
memory (RAM) available.
It may be invoked using the menu item:
View > (check) Command bar > (enter text box) SET
OPTION 17
In previous versions of LUSAS, option 17 was used to suppress
step reduction.
